Responding to Covid-19

Delaney Wright Parents and Families,

We would like to inform you that we have decided to reopen Delaney Wright Fine Arts Preschool effective Monday May 18, 2020.

Currently we are open and plan on returning to full capacity over the course of the coming months. We will need to make several changes to our day-to-day operations in consideration of the safety of our children and staff and everyone they may come into contact with. The following safety procedures will be in place until further notice:

No parents will be allowed on campus. Drop off is 8:30 - 9:30AM. Late drop-off is at 9:30 - 10:00AM. Please take your child directly to the Big Red Main office door. No children will be admitted after 10:00 AM.

Pick up is 3:45-4:15PM (last pick up).

On Delaney Wright premises everyone over the age of 2 years old is required to wear a face mask or face covering.  Please make sure you and your child have their mask on before coming to the drop off/pick up area.

No child or staff member will be permitted on campus with a fever over 100.3 degrees Fahrenheit. Please check your child’s temperature at home before bringing them to school. All children and staff will have their temperatures taken upon arrival and numerous times throughout the day. Any child or staff member with a fever will be sent home and will not be permitted to return to campus for 14 days or until they are free of any symptoms and have been tested for COVID-19 and can show proof of a negative result.

All staff will have their temperature checked upon arrival and throughout the day. Staff will wear a mask at all times. They will also practice enhanced sanitation throughout the day.

All children and staff will be required to wash their hands immediately upon arrival. Hand washing will be required numerous times throughout the day. No classroom group will be larger than 10 children. Larger areas may be divided to accommodate more than one group, each with their own designated space and teachers. There will be absolutely no co-mingling of children or staff between groups. Playground time, enrichment classes, and any other use of communal space will be carefully scheduled to accommodate one group at a time, and these areas will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between groups.

Our cleaning crew will be hard at work. They will be performing extra deep cleans before school opens, throughout the day, and after the school closes.

Any family with a member who has tested positive for COVID-19, traveled out of the area, or otherwise been exposed to the virus must notify the school immediately.

We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions regarding these safety measures.

Sincerely,

Joni Isaac, Director

| Previous Statements and Information

In consideration of and cooperation with state, county, and local government regulations, we are making the safety of our staff, students, and families our first priority. To help us plan appropriately, we need to hear from you. Please review the stages of our plan below and contact our Director, Joni with an estimated date when you anticipate that your family will return to school.

We understand that things change every day, so your response will certainly not be seen as a binding agreement, but hearing a general idea from as many families as possible will help us plan for our opening as best we can. Here are the stages as we currently anticipate them:

On May 18th, we will begin a limited "soft open." Hours will be restricted to 9AM-3:30PM, and we will be following strict safety guidelines from state licensing and our own high standards to keep our students as isolated and our campus as clean as possible.

Families who return at this point will be charged half tuition for the month of May, while families who choose to keep their children home will not be charged. Beginning June 1st, we will be open at something resembling full capacity. We will still be following all safety guidelines to the letter and beyond which will likely continue to mean some changes to the details of our day-to-day operations, but we anticipate that at this point we will be able to extend our operating hours back to normal and accommodate any and all students who are ready to return.

All children who return in June will be charged full tuition. Then, to compensate for tuition paid during the early weeks of our closure in March, we will not be taking our normal summer break and will instead be fully open until we start our new school year after Labor Day on September 8th (rather than August as we would under normal circumstances).

Children may return to school any time from June 1st-September 8th as your family deems safe and appropriate, but a payment of half tuition for each full month of absence will be required to hold your child's spot. Tuition will be due in full for each full or partial month that your child attends school.

For those of you who would like to be tested for COVID 19, follow this link for more details. It is free for all Los Angeles residents. https://lacovidprod.service-now.com/rrs?fbclid=IwAR1HY5JkfePp0JFuo087h_8BB0nWKtJIjz8lje5RMtDzSufL-eHNONlJrNo

On September 8th, we will start our new school year. At this point, tuition will be due in full each month to continue to secure your child's spot. Once again, please contact our Director, Joni with your thoughts on when you anticipate that your child will return to school, and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding our plans. We can't wait to see you soon!

Sincerely,

Joni Isaac, Director

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the school closing?

Delaney Wright Fine Arts Preschool was closed for approximately two months. After careful consideration from the CDC, CDSS, California and Los Angeles Department of Public Health we have decided to re-open our school slowly. We will continue to update our policies and procedures as more information emerges, but it is our most sincere hope that we will continue to be able to provide consistency for our students and maintain a safe, healthy environment for them to learn and grow even in this chaotic time.

What steps is the school taking to protect our children and families?

A number of things!

No child or staff member will be permitted on campus with a fever over 100.3 degrees Fahrenheit. All children and staff will have their temperatures taken upon arrival and numerous times throughout the day. Any child or staff member with a fever will be sent home and will not be permitted to return to campus for 14 days or until they are free of any symptoms and have been tested for COVID-19 and can show proof of a negative result.

We’re re-upping our commitment to the handwashing procedures we have in place as well as implementing some new ones. All children and staff are washing their hands first thing upon arriving, after using the restroom, before and after eating, after coughing or sneezing, and before and after any other activities that might involve germ transfer. Children are being reminded and helped to sing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” to make sure they scrub for the full 20 seconds recommended by the CDC.

All staff will be wearing gloves and masks and performing enchanted sanitation.

Teachers are helping children remember to cough or sneeze into the crook of their elbow, and to avoid touching their faces and make sure that they wash their hands every time they do. Teachers and staff are committing to doing the same.

No parents will be allowed on campus. All drop offs and pick ups will be done by valet.

Our custodial staff is implementing a detailed and thorough cleaning schedule to ensure that all door knobs, handrails, toys, sink and toilet handles, refrigerator and microwave handles, and other surfaces that see a lot of communal touching are disinfected multiple times per day, as well as taking extra care to ensure soap and paper towels are always stocked at all sinks. One of our employees who has been doing maintenance at Saint Barnabas in Eagle Rock is being moved to our Hollywood campus to assist in this extra rigorous cleaning full-time.

We’re putting a hold on all in-person campus tours to minimize possible sources of contact.

Where is the school getting its information to make these decisions?

We’re checking the pages of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the California Department of Public Health, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and the World Health Organization multiple times per day to ensure that we have the most up-to-date information and can revise our policies and procedures as recommended immediately. We encourage you to visit these links yourself, both to stay on the same page with us and to see how you can stay healthy at home as well.
